This blog is intended as a companion to your own thinking and wondering about life.
There is a small boy, named Davy, in the old stories of Anne of Green Gables. He is mischievous and curious and lives by the the words, “I want to know.” Me, too. I want to know. Every day I find myself with questions as I consider all that life offers up to me.
My spiritual practice is to be as aware as possible in the present moment. This practice keeps me from rummaging in the baggage of the past and worrying about the future. Being aware of whatever is before me helps me respond appropriately and leaves me standing on solid ground.
Each morning, as I write in my journal and drink my coffee, I discover something more to consider and wonder about. That’s why I call journaling God in my coffee cup. As I write and wonder I experience life flowing around me in all of its mystery and sacredness and I know that I belong. As a minister I have often lived as though life is about my religion. But I have come to believe that life is really about connection however we choose to do it. Connections we have to the everyday and to the universal. All of these connections interest me and cause me to wonder. I want to know.
